Leading European law firms Chiomenti, Cuatrecasas, Gide, Gleiss Lutz and Houthoff are coming together in London to deliver their combined cross-jurisdictional views and experience in relation to the recognition, enforcement and execution of arbitral awards. The event will comprise two panels, one on the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards, which will include a comparative discussion on the challenges and obstacles to recognition and enforcement, mentioning the issues arising out the Achmea decision, amongst others. The second panel will focus on the execution of arbitral awards and will include a discussion on how to seize assets, interim measures, and the impact of sovereign immunities and sanctions on seizing assets. We are delighted that Judge Vajda QC will also join us to deliver a keynote address ahead of the panel discussions. Judge Vajda was the judge of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland at the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) from 2012 until the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union in 2020. This event would benefit corporates with an arbitral award looking for enforcement and also companies looking to assist their clients in this area, for example those offering asset tracing services and third-party funders. |
