Tomás Gomes da Silva advises clients on regulatory banking and finance law. He covers matters ranging from behavioral and prudential standards, governance, payment services and fintech, investment services to anti-money laundering. He also advises on M&A in the finance sector, including handling authorization procedures before the regulators and accompanying clients in relation to the respective activity.

Before joining Cuatrecasas, he worked at other law firms in Portugal in banking, finance and capital markets law and was an in-house lawyer at Banco de Investimento Global, where he worked in regulatory compliance in the finance sector.

He is a member of the Portuguese Bar Association.

He is the author of several articles on fintech: Entre a inovação e a proteção: a custódia de criptoativos no MiCA (Between innovation and protection: the custody of cryptoassets under the Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation) and The Times They Are A-Changing: riscos e benefícios da tokenização no financiamento do investimento em capital de risco (The Times They Are A-Changing: risks and benefits of tokenization in venture capital investment financing). He also speaks regularly on these specialty areas at conferences.
