José Ángel Sánchez advises national and international clients on litigation and arbitration related to the energy, construction and telecommunications sectors. He has a strong background in alternative dispute resolution in complex engineering, concession and infrastructure projects, as well as in disputes with a marked financial, commercial and M&A element.

He has represented private investors against sovereign states in international arbitrations brought under the terms of investment protection treaties, and in commercial arbitrations under all kinds of institutional rules (ICSID, ICC, LCIA, SCC, UNCITRAL, the Madrid Court of Arbitration [CAM], the Spanish Civil and Commercial Court of Arbitration [CIMA], and the Spanish and Iberoamerican Arbitration Club [CEIA]) in Spain, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia.

He also advises on the legal planning and protection of international investment portfolios; issues concerning the application of public and private international law; and the supervision and control of arbitration procedures, such as cancellation, recognition and enforcement of judgments, and arbitration awards.

He is a member of the Spanish and Iberoamerican Arbitration Club (CEIA -40), the ICC Young Arbitration Forum, the Young International Council for Commercial Arbitration, the Young LCIA International Arbitration Group and Young ICSID.

He is a guest lecturer at several universities and business schools, and regularly speaks at national and international forums on arbitration. He is the author of doctrinal articles and publications related to commercial and investment arbitration.
