Cuatrecasas has appointed the lawyer Iván Libenson as the new managing partner of its Mexico City office. This appointment arises in the framework of the firm’s recent merger with Rico, Robles y Libenson (RRL), with which Cuatrecasas expects to create a benchmark firm in the Mexican market and to become the model law firm for US and European investors and companies to hire for legal advisory services covering transactional and regulatory matters.

Iván Libenson will have the support of Marco Antonio de la Peña, senior partner of the Mexico City office.

The new managing partner, specialist in corporate, securities and financial law, has extensive experience in M&A transactions, securities issues, project finance and restructuring. He has represented national and international clients—from both the public and private sector—on structuring and implementing diverse and complex transactions. His M&A experience includes advising on some of the most significant transactions in the Mexican market in recent years.

Before joining Cuatrecasas, he was a partner at a leading New York law firm in Mexico City and a partner at one of Mexico’s most important law firms.

Regarding his appointment, Iván Libenson stated the following: “It will be an honor for me to work closely with the partners in Mexico and in the firm's other offices to offer our clients top-quality legal services. We are proud to join Cuatrecasas, the leading Ibero-American law firm in the world.
