GAM acquires Valladolid-based company Carretillas Mayor

Cuatrecasas has advised the multinational General Alquiler de Maquinaria (GAM) on acquiring Carretillas Mayor, a Valladolid-based company with over 30 years’ experience in the sale, rental and maintenance of all types of handling and lifting equipment, overhead cranes and automated guided vehicles (AGVs).

According to information provided by GAM to the Spanish Securities and Exchange Commission (CNMV), the transaction totaled €30 million. With this transaction, the multinational now manages Carretillas Mayor’s workforce of over 200 employees and has added a fleet of machinery with approximately 3,000 pieces of equipment to its product portfolio.

This acquisition allows GAM—the only listed company in its sector since 2006 and a leader in integrated solutions for Spanish industry—to continue with its growth and international expansion process that it began years ago. It also represents a significant strengthening of its position in the Iberian Peninsula by absorbing a consolidated company operating in Valladolid, Burgos and Palencia, and with significant activity in Portugal.
