Raúl Fernández focuses his practice on labor law and social security law. He has represented national and international companies in many complex labor litigations. He has also advised on regulated and non-regulated collective bargaining, and health and safety work, as well as day-to-day and strategic corporate employment matters.
He is an assistant lecturer of labor law and social security law at Universidad de Chile, having been admitted through a public competition based on examination and experience in 2014. He is a guest lecturer in diplomas and master's degrees for labor law and social security law at Universidad de Talca, Universidad de Concepción and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He has taught on the training course for judges at the Chilean Judicial Academy.
He has written three books: La prueba en el proceso laboral (Evidence in Labor Proceedings), El poder disciplinario del empleador (Employers’ Disciplinary Power) and Las facultades y deberes del juez en materia probatoria en el proceso laboral. Análisis crítico (Judges’ powers and duties regarding evidence in labor proceedings. Critical analysis.) He has authored over 10 chapters in collective books and over 20 articles published in specialized journals. He speaks regularly at national and international seminars and conferences on labor law and social security law.
He has received several recognitions and academic awards such as (i) best student in the Master in Labor Law and Social Security Law organized by Universidad de Valencia and Universidad de Talca, (ii) best student in private law courses at Universidad de Concepción, and (iii) valedictorian in the Bachelor of Laws at Universidad de Concepción.
