Specialist in all phases of insolvency proceedings, including debt restructuring in the pre-insolvency phase and follow up of insolvency proceedings and commercial transactions in special situations; specialist in civil and commercial litigation.

Javier Sanz advises on designing and implementing transactions, investment strategies and purchases in special situations—distressed assets—such as competitive processes for selling production units, companies and complex assets, as well as loan-to-own transactions. He also advises on real estate-owned (REO) transactions.

He provides comprehensive insolvency advice, including pre-insolvency phases and restructuring plans. He represents debtors and creditors, and often takes on the role of insolvency administrator.

He is an expert in the legal supervision and defense of civil and commercial cases (in pre-litigation phases and in court). He stands out in commercial litigation for his experience in directors’ and auditors’ liability (particularly in relation to insolvency), and for his expertise in corporate disputes.

In 2015, he was on secondment as a legal advisor to the Telefonica group, where he focused on contractual issues (commercial and civil) and administrative contracting.

He is an assistant lecturer in the masters for admission to the practice of law at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad CEU San Pablo (Madrid) and Centro Universitario Villanueva (Madrid). He also lectures in the Double Master in Legal Practice and in Labor Law and Consultancy at Centro de Estudios Garrigues and in the Master in International Legal Practice at ISDE Law Business School.
