On March 30, 2022, the Official Gazette of the Spanish State published Royal Decree-Law 6/2022, of March 29, adopting urgent measures within the framework of the National Plan to respond to the economic and social impact of the war in Ukraine, which introduces a set of measures affecting the energy sector aimed at strengthening energy supply security and lowering electricity prices.

Among other measures of interest for companies in the sector, we highlight the following:

> It updates the regulated remuneration system for renewable energy, cogeneration and waste.

> It establishes measures to streamline procedures for renewable energy projects and a simplified procedure to authorize renewable energy projects with low environmental impact.

> It extends the mechanism to reduce the profits made by power plants that produce electricity from technologies that do not emit greenhouse gases established under RDL 17/2021, and introduces amendments regarding bilateral contracts.

> It adopts measures affecting the natural gas sector, and gives greater flexibility to supply contracts and the increase in reserve requirements.

> It regulates the installation of floating photovoltaic plants in the hydraulic public domain.

> It extends the social discount electricity rates.

> It extends energy-related tax measures until June 30, 2022.
