Cuatrecasas strengthens position in Peru with hiring of Diego Carrión as new partner in Corporate and M&A Practice
Cuatrecasas strengthens its Lima office by hiring Diego Carrión as a new partner in its Corporate and M&A Practice. With three partners leading this practice and a team of six associates, the firm’s Corporate and M&A Practice is one of the best on the market. Diego’s arrival reinforces the firm’s commitment to consolidating itself and improving its positioning in the Latin America legal market.
Over his career, Diego Carrión has acquired extensive experience in advising companies and investment funds on corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity, as well as finance and the securities market. He also participated in important M&A transactions while based at the New York office of a leading US law firm. He lectures on the courses “Commercial Law Institutions” and “Corporate and Finance Law” at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. He has also written articles on subjects of his specialty area and actively participates in talks and seminars on corporate law for students and lawyers.
Aldo Reggiardo, managing director of the Cuatrecasas Lima office stated: “We are very excited about Diego joining our team in Lima. He is undoubtedly one of the best M&A lawyers of his generation in Peru; his talent and experience will enable us to extend the capacities of the Lima office’s Commercial Practice, particularly those of our corporate and M&A teams. His joining us is a response to the office’s growth since its opening in the market just over three years ago, and is aligned with the firm’s aim to become one of the leading firms in Peru and in Latin America.”
Diego has a Bachelor of Laws (magna cum laude) from
Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and a Master of Laws from
Harvard Law School. He is also recognized as a leader in his practice area in different legal directories, including Chambers Global, Chambers Latin America, IFLR1000, The Legal 500, Leaders League and Latin Lawyer.
Regarding his hiring, Diego Carrión stated: “I am very grateful to Cuatrecasas for giving me this opportunity to continue with my professional growth in a global law firm, which is present in 13 jurisdictions and firmly committed to developing a powerful and top-quality transactional corporate practice in the main Latin American countries.” He added that “each year, the integration of the Pacific Alliance countries—and of the Ibero-American countries—is greater, and offering a comprehensive service to local and regional clients is decisive for these transactions. I am joining a top local team with whom I share the objective of making Cuatrecasas one of the best firms in the region.”
