Cuatrecasas has approved the appointment of five new partners at its Extraordinary Partners Meeting held in its Barcelona office on April 10. Three of them are lawyers promoted from within the firm: Alessandro Jones-Capobianco (Tax, Spain), Aina Maragall (Public Law, Spain), and Tomás Ugalde (Finance and Restructuring, Spain). The other two are new hires: Eduardo Pastor (Litigation, Spain) and Luis Vázquez (Tax, Mexico). Their talent and experience will contribute to reinforcing the firm’s abilities and boost its growth and development.

Alessandro Jones-Capobianco: is an expert in tax, offering strategic advice on complex corporate transactions. He specializes in transactional insurance (tax insurance, W&I, and contingent insurance) and is an expert in handling complex claims. Thanks to his in-depth expertise of the international taxation of foreign investments, he has participated in crossborder transactions in the industrial, real estate and energy sectors. He is a member of the Barcelona, Paris and Quebec bar associations, and regularly speaks at forums specializing in W&I insurance and tax. He is a recommended lawyer by Best Lawyers in Tax.

Aina Maragall: has extensive experience advising business groups and investment funds on real estate acquisitions, and on selling and financing real estate assets. She specializes in land planning, urban planning and management from a preventive standpoint, as well as defending clients before the authorities and in court. She is an associate lecturer at Universitat Abat Oliva and is a member of the Barcelona Bar Association, WIRES (Women in Real Estate Spain), Barcelona Global and the 22@Network Association. She is a recommended lawyer by Chambers & Partners, and Best Lawyers in Planning.

Tomás Ugalde: has extensive experience in long-term working capital finance, including loans, credits, factoring and guarantees, as well as financing acquisitions, and energy and infrastructure projects. He is an expert in real estate finance, debt restructuring and insolvency law, working on highly complex national and multijurisdictional transactions. He actively participates in training sessions and conferences and contributes to various legal publications. He is a recommended lawyer by Best Lawyers in Banking & Finance and M&A.

Eduardo Pastor: specializes in commercial matters and is an associate lecturer at Universidad Católica de Valencia. He has a PhD in law, specializing in competition law. In addition to being an author of various books, he has spoken at several conferences and seminars on commercial and competition law, as well as publishing in law journals. He has experience working in the Provincial Court of Valencia and the Commercial Courts of Barcelona.

Luis Vázquez: has over 20 years’ experience in litigation and tax disputes, advising and representing multinationals in audits and tax refunds, particularly in mining, infrastructure and finance. He is an expert in tax treaties and transfer pricing, and was an international associate at the firm’s Madrid office. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from Universidad Iberoamericana, and a Master in International Taxation from Georgetown University. He is an active member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and the Mexican Bar Association where he coordinated the Tax Law Commission.
