Cuatrecasas participates in United Nations Climate Change Conference COP 25, as strategic partner of Spain NAB

SpainNAB, the Spanish national advisory board on impact investing, is a partnership of leading organizations from the investment and business community, the third sector, administrations and civil society in general, to promote and advance impact investing in Spain. It represents our country in the Global Steering Group for Impact Investment (GSG), which currently has 32 countries plus the European Union as members.

Cuatrecasas has a specialist team of lawyers providing consultancy services on the impact capital market for investors, fund managers, entrepreneurs and foundations. Impact investing promotes financial profitability and a positive, measurable impact on society and the environment.

During the COP 25, SpainNAB conducted a series of interviews with different leaders of the impact economy sector. One of the leaders interviewed was our partner Maribel Villaró, as a legal consultancy expert in this sector.

Backed by her experience advising private clients, philanthropists and foundations, she explained how private equity and foundation assets can be major players in developing impact investing. She also referred to the concept of “patient capital” as a catalyst in developing certain social impact projects. However, she underlined that the legal framework applicable to foundations must be adapted to this new scenario.

In business, Maribel Villaró highlighted that impact investing reflects the corporate level of social and environmental commitment. In this regard, Cuatrecasas advises on the development of pioneering projects that focus on the strategic plan, aiming to maximize impact and compete in a global and technological market.
