Nicolás Arboleda advises clients in the mining, oil & gas, and environmental  sectors. He has participated in and led the structuring of projects and transactions in Africa, the EMEA region, Latin America and the US. He also has expertise in regulatory and transactional matters, and project implementation in the mining and energy industries.

Before joining Cuatrecasas, he was a partner at Arboleda Abogados and vice president of legal affairs for the Soto Norte Project and the La Luna Coal Fired Power Plant project in Colombia. He worked as legal counsel for business development at QKR Corporation, a private equity fund focused on energy and mining in London and Qatar. He was also a legal advisor for the NOSS Project developed by BHP Billiton (Cerro Matoso) and an associate lawyer at several leading international law firms.

Nicolás is a tenured professor in the specialization program on mining and energy law and sustainable development at Universidad de los Andes and is a member of the Rosaristas Bar Association.
