Catarina Castanheira Lopes advises on gap analysis projects and on implementing protocols in line with data protection, including privacy-as-a-service software and data-protection-officer(“DPO”)¬-as-a-service software. As a DPO she has been directly involved in clients’ daily activities. She also carries out audits for clients and their service providers, ensuring compliance with data protection rules.
She has represented several clients in national and international court and administrative procedures involving data protection.
She focuses her activity on different sectors, including digital and technology, healthcare, pharmaceutical, energy, transport, and hospitality.
She has authored chapters in International Transfers Data Guidance and several opinion pieces on data protection in leading newspapers.
She has also led sessions in the Postgraduate program on Data Protection Law at Universidade de Lisboa.
She is a member of the Portuguese Bar Association.
