Specialist in international arbitration; advising on crossborder acquisitions, financial services, shareholders disputes, construction, energy, oil and gas, telecommunications, insurance and sport.

Alfonso Gómez-Acebo has acted as counsel in over 70 international arbitrations, both institutional and ad hoc, involving private parties, states and state-owned entities with interests in Europe, Latin America, North America, Africa and Western Asia. He also serves as arbitrator. He advises and represents clients in court proceedings relating to arbitration, including setting aside, recognizing and enforcing arbitral awards, interim measures and liability of arbitrators.

He lectures on international arbitration at Universidad Pontificia Comillas-ICADE, Universidad CEU San Pablo, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economía (ISDE) and Institute of Stock Exchange Studies (IEB). From 2009 to 2012, he was a member of the teaching team on the Master of Laws in International and Comparative Commercial Arbitration at Queen Mary University of London.

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), he is a member of the Madrid Bar Association (1998), of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) and of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR.
