On September 3, Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME) issued a press release informing that the Mercado Alternativo Bursátil (MAB), a multilateral trading system for SMEs, was changing its name to BME Growth after obtaining the European Growth Market seal. This new category is part of the Capital Markets Union initiative and is contained in Directive MiFID II.
This change has some regulatory and structural implications for the market, such as more flexible measures in the obligation to keep lists of insiders when in possession of insider information and the possibility of using shorter and simplified prospectuses to raise funds and progress from that market to the Stock Exchange.
The Spanish Securities and Exchange Commission (CNMV) will continue to supervise BME Growth’s operation, and its quality and transparency standards will be uniform with those of other European Growth Markets.
