Cuatrecasas has advised energy trade union, Sinersa, on acquiring all the shares issued by Empresa de Generación Eléctrica Río Baños (“EGERBA”), owned by Volcan Compañía Minera S.A.A (“Volcan”). The transaction value—of great importance to Sinersa’s activity, a Peruvian operator of hydroelectric generation plants—was US$ 31,700,000.

With this acquisition of EGERBA—the company that owns the Rucuy hydroelectric power plant—Sinersa strengthens (i) its position in the energy sector, and (ii) its commitment to generating responsible energy, enabling it to continue to grow with greater efficiency.

“This is a strategic transaction for our client, enabling it to continue consolidating its presence in the Peruvian renewable energy market. We are grateful for Sinersa's trust and the collaboration of Volcan and its in-house legal team,” said Oscar Trelles, managing partner of Cuatrecasas’s Lima office and head of the advisory team, which also included lawyers Guido Maeda and Angélica Congrains.
