SubscribeCuatrecasas advised Exus Renewables, a leading renewable energy company, on purchasing the Cibele solar park in Rio Maior and Cadaval from Lightsource BP, a global leader in developing and managing large-scale onshore renewable energy projects.
With a power capacity of 130 megawatts (MW) to be developed and a wind power capacity of 100 MW, the Cibele solar park is a further addition to the renewable energy assets that Exus is developing on the Iberian Peninsula.
Exus expects work to start in the coming months and the infrastructure to be operational in 2026, while the strategic location of this solar park could later include a wind farm. In Portugal, the company is currently developing 200 MW of wind and solar assets, with another 70 MW under construction and 130 MW already operational. Throughout Europe, Exus manages over 6 GW of renewable energy assets.
The Cuatrecasas legal team involved was led by Francisco Santos Costa, a lawyer from the Corporate and M&A Practice Area. It also included Miguel Lencastre Monteiro, Carolina Nogueira Martins, and Piedade Pidwell Calheiros from the same practice area; and Sara Quaresma, Daniela de Oliveira Colaço, and Sofia Rosário from the Real Estate and Town Planning Practice Area.
“This transaction not only bolsters our commitment to supporting green initiatives, but also reflects our expertise in managing complex renewable energy projects,” said Francisco Santos Costa.
