The Cuatrecasas office in Lima celebrates its fifth anniversary with a consolidated line of work and the clear objective of continuing with an expansion that reinforces its position of leadership in the Peruvian and Latin American legal sectors. In Lima, the firm currently has 8 partners and 28 lawyers covering the main practice areas of law: Corporate and M&A; Finance; Regulatory; Tax; Mining; Energy and Infrastructure; Labor and Employment; Environment; and Litigation and Arbitration.

During these first five years, the Cuatrecasas team has followed a sound strategic plan that has allowed it to achieve objectives, secure client confidence and grow both in operational terms and turnover. The firm has participated in the advisory services of many transactions that have been recognized and endorsed by the leading legal guides. In 2023, it was ranked as the first and second law firm by number of M&A transactions in Peru, according to Mergermarket and TTR, respectively. Moreover, in its 2023 annual report Latin Lawyer ranked the firm as the fourth most active in the country, and Oscar Trelles, managing partner of the Cuatrecasas office in Lima, in the group of Top Five most active lawyers in M&A transactions.

In a complex regulatory environment, Cuatrecasas has been able to consolidate its position, take advantage of market opportunities, and increase its growth prospects. The firm’s investment in training its professionals and developing talent, together with continuous technological innovation, have been fundamental in achieving this goal.

Aldo Reggiardo, head of Projects & Finance, and Oscar Trelles, head of M&A, were the first Peruvian partners, later joined by Juan Pablo Porto and Domingo Rivarola as partners to develop the Tax, and Litigation and Arbitration Practices, respectively. The firm’s constant activity and reinforcement in Peru has enabled promotions and the arrival of new additions to the workforce: in 2022, Kiomi Osorio was promoted to Finance and M&A partner, and Diego Carrión joined the firm as a Corporate and M&A partner; a year later, Ina Drago would join as a partner in Natural Resources and Iván Blume as a Labor and Employment partner. The Lima office currently has a 60-strong workforce, between lawyers and support staff.

“In the coming years, we plan to double the number of lawyers at our office so that we can assist our clients wherever their business requires, together with our other offices in Latin America, New York, Europe, Asia and Africa,” said Oscar Trelles.

Cuatrecasas is aiming high in Peru with a strategy that seeks to attract the best talent for its principle Finance, M&A, International Arbitration and Tax Practices; place its clients even more at the center of the organization; and increase its investment in R&D&I and technical-legal development.

The Cuatrecasas team met with its clients today for a cocktail reception to celebrate this fifth anniversary.
