Cuatrecasas appoints five new counsel

Cuatrecasas has appointed the following five new counsel: Daniel Cuyás Prat (Tax Litigation), Carlos Gortázar Lorente (Litigation and Arbitration), María Lérida García (Corporate Finance), María López Ridruejo (European Union Law and Competition) and Álvaro Luna Yerga (Litigation and Arbitration). These promotions confirm the firm’s professionalism and excellent legal capacity.

Daniel Cuyás Prat specializes in defending taxpayers in tax lawsuits before state, regional and local tax authorities, and before national and European courts. He advises on tax debts, deferrals and installments, compensation and other tax deferral mechanisms. He lectures on tax proceedings in the Master of Laws in Taxation at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya, has published many articles on tax, and regularly speaks at presentations and conferences.

Carlos Gortázar Lorente specializes in complex asset and succession planning, and real estate and construction law. He advises large estates and family businesses on agreements, donations, wills and succession litigation, as well as real estate companies on all types of contracts, transactions and lawsuits. He lectures on Basque civil law at Universidad del País Vasco, regularly speaks at academic and business forums, and has also written books and articles on family business.
  
María Lérida García is an expert in banking and finance law, advising financial institutions, direct lenders, sponsors and debtors on corporate financing, real estate and infrastructure transactions. She also advises corporate stakeholders on special situations, debt restructuring and distressed debt transactions. She is a member of the Barcelona Bar Association.

María López Ridruejo is an expert in Spanish and European competition law, advising and representing national and international clients on commercial and contractual matters, including designing distribution strategies and reviewing research and collaboration agreements, and implementing compliance and training programs. She also advises on litigation matters and handles proceedings before the European Commission and the Spanish Competition authorities. She lectures at Universidad Carlos III and is a member of the Madrid Bar Association.

Álvaro Luna Yerga is a member of the Cassation and Other Special Appeals Group and the firm’s Knowledge and Innovation Group and an expert in complex litigation cases; he coordinates the drafting of litigation practices and standards. He also specializes in extraordinary appeals before the Supreme Court and in litigation involving contracts, tort law, medical civil liability, insurance and consumer rights. He regularly speaks at conferences and courses, as well as lecturing at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and in master programs at the Barcelona Bar Association and OBS Business School.
